Mushon Zer-Aviv

Mushon Zer-Aviv is a designer, educator and media activist based in New York and Tel Aviv. His work involves media in public space and public space in media. He explores the borders of collaborative models as they are redrawn through politics, design and networks. He has been teaching new media research at NYU and open source design at Parsons The New School for Design and at the Bezalel Academy of Art & Design, Jerusalem.

Mushon defines open design as follows: “Design is a top-down visionary practice attempting to define systems. Hacking is a bottom-up visionary practice attempting to introduce rapture and creative disturbance into these designed systems. Open design is a journey to discover the best of both worlds.”
